Privacy, in plain words
Free and open source means privacy isn't a premium feature — it's the default.
1. Data we collect
Because FreeCloudMap is free and open source, the core product collects almost nothing. The desktop app only stores your local configuration and mount preferences on your own device. Anonymous, opt-in telemetry (crash reports and basic usage counts) is off by default and can be enabled or disabled in settings.
2. Your cloud data
Your files, keys and cloud credentials are encrypted on your device before they leave it. We cannot read your files, your mount contents, or your encryption keys — this is zero-knowledge by design. For self-hosted instances, we never see any data at all.
3. Accounts
Optional managed accounts (for updates and community features) only store the email address and name you provide. We never sell personal data, and we never use your data for advertising.
4. Cookies & analytics
The marketing site uses no third-party tracking cookies by default. If we ever add analytics, it will be privacy-respecting, aggregate-only, and clearly disclosed here.
5. Contact
